A popular host plant for the Monarch butterfly and “magnet” for pollinators, the Common Milkweed is a staple for any butterfly or native garden. Common Milkweed plants are found throughout the US except for WA, ID, CA, WY, NV, AZ, NM, CO and FL. At maturity, these plants develop clusters of brilliant, aromatic white to purple flowers that will attract various pollinators including Hummingbirds!
Common Milkweed spread very rapidly through rhizomes, so the bang for your buck on this plant is great. You likely will not see flowers during the first 1-2 years on this plant as it becomes established.
If you'd like to attract Hawk moths, Swallowtail butterflies, Greater Fritillaries, Monarchs, Skippers, bumble bees and other pollinators you need a Swamp Milkweed in your garden.
You will be purchasing 3, 3" plastic pots containing 3 well-rooted Common Milkweed plants grown with love in Minnesota.
