New Jersey Tea is a beautiful, compact shrub that's a favorite native alternative to hydrangea bushes due to its similar look and low maintenance. They are also favored due to their drought tolerant nature, making them easy to establish and keep healthy for any gardener. Its blooms are also attractive to pollinators of all types.
Important note: these shrubs are not resistant to deer or other pests, so you'll need to make sure you wire off or add peppermint or pepper oil to your leaves to protect the plant while it becomes established.
Fun fact: New Jersey Tea was utilized during the American Revolution as an alternative to Tea Leaves.
