The Prairie (Northern) Dropseed is one of the most popular and some say best-looking ornamental prairie grasses. It is a great border plant and filler plant for your garden that will provide elegant texture and unique coloring all year long. Interestingly, once the grass reaches maturity, it smells just like cilantro!

Prairie Dropseed have beautiful blue-green tufts of grass that turn gold and brown with shades of pink in the late summer and fall. They also retain their brown look through the winter months, adding interest to your garden when everything else is covered with snow.

This important shade plant and area of refuge for butterflies can be found natively East of, and including, Colorado and North of, and including, Texas in the United States.
