An essential part of every garden should be at least one Swamp Milkweed plant. These native host plants for the Monarch butterfly are essential parts of our ecosystems in the US. Swamp Milkweed plants are found throughout the US except for WA, OR, CA or MS. At maturity, these plants develop clusters of brilliant, aromatic red to pink flowers that will attract various pollinators including Hummingbirds!

This plant thrives in Moist to Wet soils with Full Sun.

If you'd like to attract Hawk moths, Swallowtail butterflies, Greater Fritillaries, Monarchs, Skippers, bumble bees and other pollinators you need a Swamp Milkweed in your garden.

Sun Requirements:  Full to Partial Sun (4-6 hours+)
Water Requirements: Wet to Medium-Wet Soil
Bloom Time: June-August
Plant Spacing:  1 Foot
Plant Estimated Height at Maturity: 4-5 Feet
USDA Planting Zones: 3-9

Why purchase native plants? Native plants are largely disease and pest resistant if grown in the correct planting zone and conditions. They also attract endangered pollinators and native birds and insects that boost biodiversity and rebuild ecosystems that have been either decimated or greatly minimized due to agricultural and residential development. Non-native plants bought from your local nursery not only compete with beneficial native plants for nutrients, but they often attract foreign pests and disease.

Plants ship out on Monday through Wednesday of every week and please note that the condition of each plant BEFORE shipping will be sent to you by picture. We also encourage you to make sure that you will be home the day your package is delivered so that you can plant as soon as possible. We recommend planting the early morning or evening you receive your plant to ensure exposure to the elements is minimal.

NOTE: Your plants are shipped at a young age and will likely not have any developed flowers. It is normal to not have fully-developed flowers during the first full season of plant growth.

Refunds and exchanges are only given if the plant sustains damage beyond wilting/transplant shock or severe breakage of stems. We are not responsible for the condition of the plant after you receive it. Please message me immediately upon receiving your plant and take a photo of the entire plant in and out of packaging.
